Finding an image or place for this Psalm today was kind of tough. The air outside, while better than some places in California, Oregon, Washington or Colorado (a few hot spots for fires) is still enough to make you choke. And then I stopped and looked up ...
One of the tragedies involved in all of the devastating fires that rarely gets mentioned is the destruction of all the trees. This is not meant to be an environmental comment but rather just one of reflection that something that has taken 200 plus years to grow is gone in an instant.
As we consider the "greatness" of God this Psalmist declares, may we look up and remember the beauty of the trees which stand towering above us all.
