Psalms in the world ... Psalm 118

This is the Psalm appointed for Easter Sunday! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed. Alleluia! Hear these words of renewal, of promise, of reassurance that God's care and providence over our lives knows no bounds. May you be reassured by these beautiful words today. (The scene is Somers Bay swimming area. With the water drawn down still to winter levels I'm always intrigued by this area and see the renewal of our lives mirrored in how the life around us is renewed each year. What are symbols of renewal for you?)

Psalms in the world ... Psalm 51

"Create in me a clean heart" - we've been singing that all through this Lenten season and today we hear where those powerful words come from. We just studied this Psalm a few weeks ago in our Lenten studies and so I feel like its langauge is fresh upon our ears. The psalmist cries out for God to forgive and assures God, later in the Psalm, that they will become a teacher of God's ways. May we both be taught and be inspired to teach this day as we hear these words.

Psalms in the world ... Psalm 107

Sometimes you have to get above the fray to gain a new perspective, or, sometimes you find that you are one of the "fools" who "took rebellious paths." I couldn't quite decide which I was as I scrambled up the side of the highway to get this view. Maybe I'll let you decide as you "give thanks to the Lord" through this psalm ... :-)
